Why I’m Creating This Substack—And Why You’ll Want to Follow Along
Unfiltered Thoughts on Faith, Culture, and the Future
Why this, why now? Easy. I’m not satisfied with myself
Over the years, I’ve written for various media groups on various topics. And quite frankly, I’m tired. I’ve had to manage word limits, shift my focus to fit editorial agendas, and tailor my writing to suit the latest trends. I’ve played the game—one that requires filtering, adapting, and sometimes even diluting what I really want to say. But I don’t want to play anymore.
Beyond writing, I founded the Catholic Discord server Servus Dei and, over the past six years, grew it into the largest Catholic server on Discord, the only one with an Official Discord Partnership. I’ve worked with charities, lived in monasteries, aided political lobbyist firms, and been a copywriter for companies. And through it all, I’ve come to one realization: I want more.
I don’t regret anything I’ve done, but I feel like I’ve spent years responding to the world instead of shaping it. In Servus Dei, I’ve poured out apologetical content and theological reflections—long, rant-like paragraphs that my community has come to expect daily. But why let those thoughts stay buried in a Discord server? Why not actually store and broadcast them to a broader audience?
Don’t get me wrong—I love helping people in Servus Dei, and I love serving my community here in Lithuania. But I also want to establish myself online in a way that doesn’t require filtering myself. And in all seriousness? Theology doesn’t pay. Setting up this Substack isn’t just about writing freely; it’s also about raising some money—both to support the charities I run and, if there’s enough left over, maybe even cover my groceries.
The kind of community I want to build here
I want to build a community of people who crave real introspection, unfiltered thought, and a break from the recycled, surface-level content that dominates Catholic social media. I’m sick of seeing the same tired apologetics over and over again—“Catholics don’t worship Mary,” “The Pope isn’t the Antichrist,” “Here’s why Sola Scriptura is wrong”. We get it. We’ve heard it all before.
Everyone else is writing to address today’s problems. I want to write for the problems that will exist five years from now. Imagine it’s the gold rush—everyone is focused on mining techniques, safety tips, and health risks. Meanwhile, I see what’s coming next. I don’t want to write content that just helps miners dig; I want to write content that teaches them how to invest the gold they find.
I know this might sound vague, maybe even nonsensical. But the only way to understand what I mean is to follow along and see it unfold. He who has eyes, see. He who has ears, hear. He who grasps the nuance—well done.
What you should expect
I will post content that deals with social commentary and observation, personal introspection, Catholic finance, introspection and things worth posting about. Honestly I am writing and posting these things for myself and also so my kids when they grow up, can read my content and understand the mind their Father had.
I will try to post once a week. My posts will be clear, direct, honest and upfront. Quality over quantity. Expect freshness.
